- Messenger photo by Bill SheaFort Dodge firefighters put up ladders Saturday night as they work to extinguish a fire at 613 Ave. C. The fire was in a corner of the second floor. Fire Department Capt. Jeff Hill said an overloaded electrical circuit in old wiring started the fire. The fire was initially reported at about 8:15 p.m. Firefighters had to tear open parts of an interior wall and ceiling to get at the flames. They were called back to the scene about two hours later when the fire rekindled. At that time they had to tear out even more lathe and plaster and apply even more water to extinguish it. No one was injured in either incident.
